Why live in Safi?
Price
One of the least expensive addresses on the island.
Airport
Immediately adjacent, which suits shift workers.
Quiet
Little passes through.
The south
Close to Birzebbuga, Marsaxlokk and the southern coast.
The lifestyle
Safi is small and unassuming. Aircraft are the defining feature — how much they intrude depends entirely on the street and the runway in use, and anybody viewing here should stand outside and listen rather than take a description at face value. Beyond that it is quiet and residential, with a square, a church and basic shops. Everything else means driving. It suits people who work at the airport or in the southern industrial areas and want the shortest possible commute for the lowest possible rent.
Property in Safi
Mostly townhouses and maisonettes, modest and often unmodernised, usually with a yard. A small number of newer apartments. The market is small and turnover is limited. Prices are among the lowest in Malta.
Who is this area best for?
Airport workers
As close as it is possible to live.
Value-seekers
Very low prices for a whole house.
Less suited to
Anyone sensitive to aircraft noise — this is the first thing to test.
Look at instead
Kirkop and Mqabba are similar in price and marginally further from the runway.
