Living in St Julian's
The centre of Malta’s nightlife and much of its business at the same time, which makes it two quite different places depending on the street. Paceville is the entertainment district; Balluta, Spinola and the streets climbing away from the bays are ordinary, well-connected residential areas that happen to be next to it.

Why live in St Julian's?
Work is here
A great many of the island’s international employers sit in or beside St Julian’s, so for a lot of people this is a walk to the office rather than a drive.
Restaurants and bars
The densest concentration on the island, at every level from a quick plate to a long dinner.
The bays
Spinola and Balluta give the area a genuine centre — people meet at the bay rather than at a shopping centre.
Transport
Well served by buses in every direction, and close enough to Sliema to use its ferry.
The lifestyle
Where you live in St Julian’s matters more than in most Maltese towns. Within a few hundred metres of Paceville, noise on weekend nights is not a matter of opinion — it is constant, and no amount of glazing fully solves it. Move uphill or towards Balluta and it becomes a normal, pleasant residential area with the same access. Traffic through the middle is heavy at peak times. Anyone viewing here should see the flat once in daylight and once on a Friday night, and should ask specifically which direction the bedroom faces.
Property in St Julian's
Predominantly apartments, with a higher share of recent construction than most areas — lifts, air conditioning and underground parking are common in newer blocks. There is a real spread: compact flats aimed at sharers near the centre, larger family apartments and penthouses on the higher ground. Sea views and terraces command a premium. Furnished lettings dominate. Because so much local demand comes from people relocating for work, the market moves quickly and good units do not sit.
Who is this area best for?
Professionals
Particularly anyone working in the area — the walk to work is the main draw.
Young renters and sharers
The widest choice of flatshare-suitable stock on the island.
Couples
Provided the street is chosen carefully.
Less suited to
Families with young children, and light sleepers anywhere near Paceville.
