Living in Victoria
Gozo’s central town, known to everyone on the island as Rabat, built around the Citadel on its hill. Victoria is where Gozo does its shopping, banking and business, and it is the practical choice for anyone who wants to live on Gozo without being cut off from everything.

Why live in Victoria?
Everything Gozo has
Shops, banks, the hospital, schools and the bus hub are all here.
The Citadel
A genuine fortified core with views across the whole island.
Central to Gozo
Everywhere on the island is a short drive.
Character housing
Old stone houses with courtyards at prices Malta cannot match.
The lifestyle
Victoria is busy during the day and empties in the evening — Gozo is quiet at night and Victoria is no exception. It is a Gozitan town, not a resort, so life runs in Maltese and on local rhythms, and winter is much quieter than summer. The important consideration is the crossing: the ferry plus the queue makes commuting to Malta impractical as a daily routine for most people. For anyone working on Gozo or working remotely it is the most convenient address on the island.
Property in Victoria
Older stock dominates: townhouses and houses of character in and around the core, with apartments in the newer parts and farmhouses in the countryside beyond. Courtyards and roof terraces are common. Prices are well below comparable property in Malta. Condition varies widely, and older Gozitan houses can be cold and damp in winter — worth checking rather than assuming. Long unfurnished lets are more common than in Malta’s expat areas.
Who is this area best for?
Remote workers
The crossing stops mattering when you are not making it daily.
Families
Schools, the hospital and everything practical in one place.
People wanting character
Old houses at attainable prices.
Less suited to
Anyone commuting to Malta, and anyone who wants nightlife or a busy evening street.
