Why live in Pieta?
The hospital
Mater Dei aside, Pieta’s own hospital makes it an obvious base for health workers.
Central
Valletta, Msida and the university are all minutes away.
Value
Cheaper than Sliema or Ta’ Xbiex for a similar position.
The waterfront
The harbour front along the creek is pleasant and underused.
The lifestyle
Pieta is dominated by the roads that run through it, which are heavy at peak times and noisy along the front. Behind them the streets are ordinary and much calmer, with some good older housing. It is not a scenic town and has little in the way of nightlife or shopping beyond the everyday. What it has is position and price: very central, and noticeably cheaper than its neighbours on either side.
Property in Pieta
Apartments and older townhouses, some divided into flats. A high share of tenants are students and hospital staff, so smaller units and sharing arrangements are well represented. Condition varies and the difference between a modernised flat and an original one is stark at similar rents. Harbour-facing units carry a premium and the traffic that comes with the front.
Who is this area best for?
Healthcare workers
Walk to work.
Students
Close to the university and cheaper than Gzira.
Budget-conscious professionals
Central access without central rents.
Less suited to
Families wanting quiet and space, and anyone sensitive to traffic noise.
